Visual Library FAQ

  • Layered stencils are a new and exciting technique that’s quickly gaining popularity among cookie decorators. If you’ve never used these stencils before, don’t worry! Follow these steps to get started on the right foot and create stunning designs with ease.

    1. Start with the Base Layer Guide
The Base Layer Guide is an essential tool for creating royal icing transfers with layered stencils. It helps you align each stencil layer precisely, achieve the perfect layer thickness, and ensuring clean and professional results. Make sure to have this tool ready before you begin.

    2. Choose Your Stencil Set
Locate, above, the stencil set you’ve purchased (or are planning to purchase) and review the resources available. I recommend starting with a beginner stencil set—these typically have 5 or fewer layers, making them perfect for learning the basics. Be sure to check for placement and color guides, as well as video tutorials if available (not all sets have tutorials yet, but I’m working on them! 😊).

    3. Gather Your Tools
Before you start, make sure you have all the tools you’ll need. This typically includes:

      • Royal icing

      • Food coloring

      • A silicone spatula

      • Straight edge scraper (preferably metal so it doesn’t bend)

      • Base Layer Guide

      • Your chosen stencil set

    4. Get Hands-On
The best way to learn is by doing! Grab your icing and food coloring, and start practicing. Don’t worry about perfection at first—each attempt will bring you closer to mastering this technique.

  • No, as I create tutorial videos I will update the corresponding stencil set’s resource page. This is a work in progress 😊 Please Contact Me if you are needing a video tutorial done for a particular stencil set.

  • Please Contact Me, if the stencil set you purchased isn’t found on this page then it must have slipped through the cracks. Let me know and I will get it uploaded ASAP!
